Super Rare Sony TC-K501R (ES) Auto-Reverse Cassette Deck JUST SERVICED !
Description
This is a rare duck, no doubt. Not much online about this one, but the specs, features and front view/layout are identical to the "ES" model.
This deck has the nice and heavy double capstans, with the rapid auto-reverse, and I do mean rapid!
This is what I did to it:
- New capstan belt
- New rec/pb switching relay
- Lube mecha
- Align head
- Test all functions

Recording and re-auto reverse deck inheriting the design philosophy of the ES series.
Super Rotary bilateral system is adopted for head block.
Based on the rotobilateral method in which the head mounted on the die cast block is inverted 180 ° and the same head gap is used for both normal and reverse operations, we are pursuing a more precise 0 clearance self-aligning design by improving the precision of the double radial bearing structure that supports the rotating part.
In addition, it is equipped with a click reverse mechanism that detects the leader tape at the end of the tape and quickly reverses it. This realizes smooth connection even when the tape is reversed.
The core alloy with excellent magnetic properties is used for the core material of the recording / reproducing head, and an LC-OFC wound laser amorphous recording / reproducing head is used, which uses LC-OFC for the coil winding. The LC-OFC minimizes distortion due to capacitive reactance and improves sound quality.
This is the first 2-head machine equipped with a manual recording calibration function.
The Rec Cal command automatically records the reference level signal from the built-in oscillator for about 10 seconds, rewinds it to the recording start point, plays it for about 10 seconds, and rewinds it.
Recording sensitivity can be adjusted with a simple operation using the adjustment knob while watching the meter with an enlarged scale.
